The CDL School Asphalt Paving, Striping & Tough Track Project
Clear Choice Paving & Koncrete completed a multi-stage commercial pavement project for The CDL School in Colorado Springs — from base preparation and asphalt installation to parking-lot striping, followed four months later by Tough Track reinforcement along the pavement edges.
Project Overview
A Complete Commercial Pavement Project
Clear Choice Paving & Koncrete completed a two-stage pavement project for The CDL School in Colorado Springs. During the initial phase, our crew prepared and stabilized the base, installed the asphalt pavement and completed the parking-lot striping.
This was not simply a cosmetic resurfacing project. The work began underneath the pavement, where proper base preparation and stabilization are critical to the performance of a commercial asphalt surface.
After the pavement and striping had been completed, Clear Choice returned approximately four months later for an additional Tough Track reinforcement phase along the sides of the asphalt.

From the Ground Up
How We Built The CDL School Project
The finished asphalt is only one part of the story. This project documents the work underneath the pavement, the paving operation itself, the striping and the later edge reinforcement.
Base Preparation & Ground Stabilization
The project began with preparing and shaping the work area so the pavement would have a strong foundation. The crew worked the underlying surface, addressed the base and prepared the site before asphalt placement.
Proper base preparation is one of the most important parts of commercial paving. A pavement surface is only as dependable as the foundation supporting it.
Commercial Asphalt Paving
Once the base was ready, the paving operation began. Hot asphalt was installed across the prepared commercial area and compacted to build a clean, durable driving and training surface.
The paving footage below shows the crew working directly behind the paving operation as the new asphalt surface takes shape.
Parking Lot & Training Area Striping
After the asphalt surface was completed and ready for pavement markings, the crew laid out and installed the bright yellow striping across the paved area.
Clean pavement markings help organize commercial traffic, parking and training areas while giving the finished property a professional appearance.
Tough Track Edge Reinforcement
The Tough Track installation took place approximately four months after the original base preparation, asphalt paving and striping work had been completed.
Tough Track was installed along the sides of the paved areas to provide additional stabilization and support at vulnerable pavement-edge and adjoining surface areas.

Built for the Demands of a Commercial Property
The CDL School project demonstrates the full pavement process: preparing the foundation, installing the asphalt, organizing the finished surface with professional striping and returning later when additional edge reinforcement was needed.

CDL School Project FAQ
What work did Clear Choice perform at The CDL School?
Clear Choice Paving & Koncrete handled the base preparation, commercial asphalt paving and pavement striping during the initial phase. The company returned approximately four months later to install Tough Track reinforcement along the pavement sides.
Was Tough Track installed on top of the asphalt?
No. Tough Track was installed beside the finished asphalt pavement along the sides and edge areas. It was not placed over the completed asphalt surface.
Why does base preparation matter before commercial paving?
The base supports the asphalt above it. Proper preparation, grading, stabilization and compaction help the pavement withstand traffic and reduce problems caused by movement underneath the asphalt.
